Repairs
Universal
purpose:
Our cold light cables can fit almost all projectors and
instruments!
The cable ends are prepaired for screwing endfittings on
the cable so that it fits nearly all light sources and instruments.
In Europe the standard systems are Storz, Wolf und ACM for
instrument end. On the projector
end there are a lot of more manufacturers systems (most
popular are Storz, Wolf, ACM, Olympus)..
High
Transmission Fiber Optic Cables
Inside a light source the light which is emitted by the
lamp is focussed. Most of the infra red radiation will be
eleminated by filters but in the spot of the focus the temperatures
can still become high. The fiber bundle at both ends of
a standard cable are fixed by glue. Depending on the light
source the temperatures within the light focus spot can
destroy the glue and destroy the cable. For that reason
we offer our high transmission cables.
The fiber bundle of such a cable is not fixed by glue at
the projector end but only fixed under high pressure in
a very special process. In comparison to standard cables
the projector end is heat resistand and the cable provides
a hight light transmission. The high transmission cable
can easily be recognized by its coloured ends.
Our high transmission cables are suitable especially for
high power light sources (for example 180W Metal Halide
or Xenon, 250W Halogen or Metal Halide, 300W Xenon) and
will save lots of money.

Some details about order and delivery
Cables are supplied without end fittings. End fittings are
ordered and delivered separate. We
need the active diameter, length and type or item code of
end fitting.
Terms of delivery
A lot of standard items are on stock. If an items
is out of stock, the delivery time is about 1-2 weeks for
standard items.
Delivery time for big quantities is about 4 weeks.
Repairs
According to our know-how repairs are not profitable.
But you can send your cables to us.Then we check the condition
of your cables and submit a bargain.
Fiber

Cold Light Cables
In many parts of medicine white colored
light of high intensity is requested. The natural problem
of lamps which produce such light are their dimensions and
the big heat which is emitted beside the light. Because
of that the production of light was separated from the place
where the light is needed. For this the light is produced
by a so-called cold light source where most of the heat
radiation can be filtered. Subsequently the light is focussed
to a small spot. In this spot the projector end of a changeable
light guide cable is fixed. The core of such a calbe consists
of a bundle of glass fibres which is taking the light and
guiding by reflection at the coating of the fibres with
low loss to the instrument end. Here all the fibre optic
instruments which are wanted to be illuminated can be connected.
There exists a wide range of different cold light

Process of guiding the light inside an optical glass
fiber
sources and fibre optic instruments. Therefore
we offer as basic type a universal light guide cable which
can be fitted to all common light sources and instruments
by screwable adapters. By their construction and quality
of workmanship our cables are offering both: A high protection
for the sensitive glass fibres and optimal flexibility.
All our glass fibre cables can be sterilized by autoclave
at 135°C.

Construction
of a standard fiber optic cable
The spot produced inside the light sources usually
has a diameter of about 5mm - 10 mm. The bigger the diameter
of the fibre bundle inside the light guide cable the more
light can be taken and guided by the cable. Therefore the
diameter of the fibre bundle is called active diameter.
It is possible to measure it at the plains of the cable
ends. Take care that only the fibre core is measured, not
the metal frame. In the field of medicine the two active
diameters of 3.5 mm and 4.8 mm are gererally popular, at
which the lengths are varying from 1.8 m up to 5m (standards:
1.8m and 2.3m). At the ends of the standard cables the fibres
are fixed by glue. This was proved good at practical use
with the common halogen light sources during the last decades.
But in case of using the standard cables at the modern

How
to measure the active diameter at fiber optic cables
high power xenon short arc light sources they have
two important disadvantages: On the one hand the glue to
fix the fibres is not heat resistant. On the other hand
the glue makes about 20% of the plain at the ends of the
cable. That means that 20% of the light projected to the
input end of the cable can not be guided through. The modern
high power xenon light sources are focussing the light to
a small spot. At this spot the temperature is very high.
Because of that heat the glue between the glass fibres of
the standard cables could get burned which causes the destruction
of the cable. For these purposes we offer our high
power cables (so-called CC-cables).
The fibres at the projector end are fixed by a high technology
process without any glue and without any space between the
fibres. So this end is extremely heat resistant. And the
plain of the projector end consists of 100% light guiding
fibres without any space between which results in a corresponding
increase of its performance.
